Clare and I had a wonderful time at the Kentucky Derby Party hosted by the Thomasville Landmarks Organization. This is a huge event every year and the last several parties have been held at the gorgeous Pebble Hill Plantation just south of the city. (click here for information on the plantation).
As you can see we were all decked out in our Derby Finery, hats included. And it was Clare's lucky day. She not only won best hat, but her horse, Super Saver, won the Derby. Hmmmmm, maybe we should have played the lottery.
The caterers served burgoo, a traditional Kentucky dish served with mashed potatoes. It was delicious and we will be providing the recipe on abigslice.com in the coming days.
Thanks to the Thomasville Landmarks Organization, and especially Margo Byrne for hosting a great event. See you next year!
